The Armenian Candle

Spicy, woody, authentic

The Armenian Candle captures the soul of the classic Armenia booklet. A warm and evocative blend of Atlas cedar, Ceylon cinnamon, Moroccan sage, and lavender from Provence.
220 g of plant-based wax, cotton wick, approx. 50 hours of burn time.

The story ofย Papier dโ€™Armรฉnieยฎย began in the 19th century when Auguste Ponsot, inspired by a traditional Armenian ritual of purifying homes with burning benzoin resin, brought the idea back to France.
Together with pharmacistย Henri Rivier, he developed a fragrant blend of benzoin dissolved in alcohol, enriched with perfume and absorbed into blotting paper โ€“ slow-burning and flameless.

To this day, the iconic scented booklet isย crafted by hand in Montrouge, France, in a family-run workshop. The process takes 6 months and includes 12 meticulous steps.
Mireille Schvartz, Rivierโ€™s great-granddaughter, carries on the tradition with a passionate team โ€“ some of whom have been part of the Papier dโ€™Armรฉnieยฎ family for three generations.
